"Who wears Jack Rogers" my mom asked last week when she saw me pull them out from the trusty summer shoe bin.

"It's a vibe," I say coyly.

She clearly doesn't recall that these were the shoes I wore for years at boarding school because she didn't buy them for me. I stole them shamelessly from my dorm mate who had 18 pairs. But we all stole then. Possessions were wholesome to take. Innocence was the tougher one to lose.
